This role combines advanced welding expertise (MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core) with leadership responsibilities, supporting production goals and mentoring welders in safety, technique, and productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Lead and coordinate daily welding activities for assigned team or shift
- Perform advanced welding tasks on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials using multiple processes
- Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings to guide team execution
- Inspect welds for quality and conformance to specifications and codes (AWS, ASME, etc.)
- Train and mentor welders on techniques, safety practices, and equipment use
- Monitor productivity and ensure adherence to production schedules
- Collaborate with supervisors, fitters, and quality inspectors to resolve issues
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper setup and calibration
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices
- Document production and quality metrics as required

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols
- Welding certifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX) preferred
- Prior leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
