Job Description

JOB TITLE: Commencement Ambassador
LOCATION:
St. Paul
PAY RATE:
$16.50/hour

HOURS: One or more shifts on Friday, May 22, Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, 2026. Required to attend a training session on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Commencement Ambassador staff will assist in all aspects of Commencement Day events, including, but not limited to, distributing reader cards, wayfinding, setting up photo areas outside, stage management, staffing the information desk, assisting with ushering, and welcoming our graduates' families and friends to St. Thomas.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Take initiative to help with a variety of Commencement Day as they arise including but not limited to:
    • Guest Relations (wayfinding, taking picture, etc.)
    • Staffing check-in tables
    • Assisting with ushering graduates
  •  Assist with set-up, resets and take down for ceremonies including signage and photo opportunity areas outdoors.
  • Answer guest’s questions to the best of your ability
  • Communicate any needs to Commencement Committee leadership
  • Mingle and welcome families and friends to campus
  • The position of Commencement Ambassador is open to rising sophomore, junior, and senior undergraduate students or current graduate students
  • Ambassadors must be mature, approachable, inclusive, and professional

  • Possible late checkout of Residence Halls--up to Sunday evening, May 24, following the final ceremony worked
  • Includes snacks and beverages during shifts

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
