Position Overview


Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School is seeking a dynamic, engaging, and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students in grades 6 through 8 to explore the natural world through scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on learning, while encouraging active participation and a deeper appreciation for science.

This role supports our mission of forming students who grow academically, spiritually, and morally in a Christ-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach daily Science classes to middle school students (Grades 6�8), following curriculum standards aligned with diocesan and state guidelines
  • Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons in life science, earth science, and physical science
  • Incorporate hands-on experiments and labs to enhance student understanding
  • Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific reasoning skills
  • Integrate technology into instruction
  • Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, compassion, and Catholic/Christian values
  • Assess student progress through tests, lab reports, projects, and class participation
  • Collaborate with the elementary science teachers and administration to ensure a cohesive K-8 science program
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and behavior
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the school�s mission and values

Qualifications

  • Bachelor�s degree in Science Education, or a related field (required); Master�s degree preferred
  • Valid teaching certificate or willingness to obtain one (state certification or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and instructional best practices
  • Previous experience teaching middle school students preferred
  • Ability to engage and motivate young adolescents through interactive and hands-on learning
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Passion for Catholic education and a commitment to the school�s mission and values
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Level 2 background screening and safe environment training (as required by diocesan policy)
