Job Description

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at Orange County High as a Special Education Teacher. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. This full-time position requires a strong understanding of special education practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and IEP documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Work collaboratively with school staff, including counselors and therapists, to support students' overall well-being.
- Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school and community.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education or willing to obtain.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
