    Biddeford Regional Center of Technology is seeking a dynamic instructor to teach one section of an EMT course, preparing high school students for the entry-level EMT licensure.  Instructor will also teach one section of an Intro to Medical Science course.  

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    1. Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification (803) and must have a Criminal History Record Check (CHRC).

    2. Maine instructor coordinator license
    3. Related work and/or experience teaching Emergency Medical Technicians
    4.AHA/ARC BLS Instructor certification or eligibility

    5. Licensed as an EMT or a Paramedic

    REPORTS TO: Center of Technology Director

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Experience teaching a comprehensive Emergency Medical Technician (EMT Basic) at the high school level using state-approved standards, assessments, and curriculum. The one-year course will meet the recommended requirements for the National Registry of EMTs.
    • Maintain dual enrollment agreements with the training sponsor provider and dual enrollment requirements for Intro to Medical Science course
    • Demonstrates EMS skills, academic and technical skills
    • Instruct the student on EMS skills
    • Support and coordinate job shadow experiences for Intro to Med Science students in clinical settings
    • Establish and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with community agencies, including Ambulance and Fire Services, state training organizations, and colleges.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty, technical skills, and effective teaching methods
    • Design lessons that provide opportunity for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real-world problems.
    • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to understand the needs of and build positive relationships with adolescents
    • Demonstrated willingness to work on a team to plan curriculum and projects at a high school level
    • Establishes and (as necessary) adjusts instructional goals and objectives to reflect district/school goals, curriculum policies, and the knowledge, skills, progress, and needs of one's students.
    • Participate in curriculum review and design.
    • Commits to ongoing professional development in the content area and pedagogy.
    • Willingness to complete requirements for Maine Department of Education certification requirements; assistance is available to support candidates' completion.
