Job Description
PURPOSE
The Chief Lending Officer (CLO) is responsible for overseeing all lending operations within the Credit Union. This executive role ensures the development and execution of lending strategies, policies and procedures that drive profitable growth while managing credit risk. The CLO will work closely with the executive team to align the
lending division’s objectives with the Credit Union’s overall goals, overseeing the performance of lending teams.
These are to be completed in accordance with the Credit Union’s established policies, procedures and Core Values.

FUNCTIONS
• Responsible for member marketing of the Credit Union and to maintain knowledge of all services offered in order to support the Credit Union’s Vision and Core Values.
• Ensure the Member Business Lending (MBL), Consumer Real Estate and Consumer Lending groups maintain defined branding requirements of the Credit Union.
• Responsible for development, implementation and coordination of objectives, policies, procedures and programs within the lending functions.
• Accountable for the overall supervision of all department staff, to include: hiring, developing, coaching, disciplining and appraising.
• Set performance targets, monitor progress and ensure goals are met in line with the Credit Union’s priorities.
• Oversee the full range of managerial duties for all lending operations. This includes origination, underwriting, compliance, credit analysis and adherence to MVFCU’s policies and practices.
• Remain updated on the latest industry trends, lending laws, federal and state regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Collaborate in product development, pricing and asset/liability management.
• Ensure that lending products meet member needs and contribute to a positive member experience.
• Monitor key lending metrics and ensure profitability through efficient processes and expense control.
• Responsible for all assigned budgets and budget management.
• Help develop and achieve the strategic goals of the Credit Union.
• Actively contribute to the success of the Credit Union by working collaboratively with all departments.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
• Ability to convey an image that is consistent with effective leadership and the Credit Union’s values
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams to meet goals and objectives
• Excellent knowledge of lending products, credit underwriting, and portfolio management
• In-depth understanding of lending regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices
• Exceptional financial acumen and ability to interpret complex financial data
• Ability to translate strategy into specific action plans. Ability to assign responsibility for carrying out action plans
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Track record of working with and maintaining confidential and sensitive member information
• Proven experience working with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loan products and guidelines
• Strong background in SBA lending and the managing of participation loans

PREREQUISITES FOR THIS POSITION
• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. Pacific Coast Banking school or post graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the lending industry, with at least five (5) years of management experience.
