Pay Classification: Faculty (Min Starting: $47,500)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary: The Head Coach provides leadership and direction for an assigned athletic program while serving as a positive and visible representative of Hill College. Oversees all aspects of the program, including recruiting, coaching, scheduling, academic monitoring, budget management, and competitive performance. Promotes student-athlete success, sportsmanship, and compliance with institutional and governing body regulations.
Minimum Required
Education: Master’s degree or a combination of education and professional experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Preferred: CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with passenger endorsement
Core Duties and
Required Knowledge: Leads the planning, organization, and execution of all aspects of the assigned athletic program, including practices, competitions, and team operations.
Demonstrates knowledge of institutional policies, athletic department procedures, and applicable governing body regulations to ensure full program compliance.
Applies recruiting, evaluation, and player development strategies to build and sustain a competitive program.
Maintains an understanding of academic eligibility standards and monitoring processes to support student-athlete success.
Utilizes budgeting and fiscal planning knowledge to responsibly manage program resources.
Integrates Hill College’s mission, values, and Code of Conduct into daily coaching, leadership, and decision-making practices.
Strategic Vision and
Program Development: Establishes and communicates a clear vision for the athletic program aligned with institutional and departmental goals.
Develops team and individual strategies to enhance performance and long-term program success.
Oversees recruiting, scouting, and retention efforts in accordance with institutional and governing body guidelines.
Plans and coordinates team schedules, travel, training sessions, and facility usage.
Ensures facilities, equipment, and training environments are maintained in a safe, organized, and effective condition.
Collaboration: Works collaboratively with athletic staff, academic services, student support offices, and college leadership to promote holistic student-athlete development.
Participates in institutional activities such as convocations, commencements, professional development events, and departmental meetings.
Represents Hill College professionally to prospective students, families, alumni, and the community.

May be required to drive team vehicles for competitions and events
Valid Texas driver’s license required
Physical Requirements: Light work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Use of arm and/or leg controls may require exertion greater than that for sedentary work.
