Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual to fill the role of a Paraeducator Substitute. In this position, you will support classroom teachers and assist students in their educational journey. Your primary responsibility will be to provide assistance in the classroom environment, ensuring that students receive the guidance and support they need to succeed academically and socially. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education and enjoy working with children.
Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements.
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce learning objectives.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Supervise students during activities, including recess, lunch, and field trips.
- Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and resources.
- Monitor and document student progress and behavior as needed.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents regarding student performance and needs.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to school policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying classroom environments and student needs.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Understanding of child development and learning principles is advantageous.
- Must pass background checks and comply with all school district policies.
Regional School District 8 (RHAM) is a high-performing, regionalized secondary school district serving approximately 1,100 students in grades seven through twelve residing in the towns of Hebron, Andover, and Marlborough.
