Job Description
Position Overview 
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting for Bunker Hill Mine. This role leads month-end and year-end close activities, inventory and cost accounting, and supports budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes. The Senior Accountant serves as a key financial partner to site leadership and provides guidance and oversight to junior accounting staff while supporting a strong control environment in an active mine operation.   
 
Duties & Responsibilities  
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.  
  • Maintain and review the general ledger to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and company policies.  
  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting activities, including valuation, usage analysis, and reconciliation to physical counts.  
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, cost reports, and detailed variance analyses.  
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives for mine operations.  
  • Ensure strong internal controls across accounting, procurement, and inventory processes.  
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors and support audit, compliance, and regulatory activities.  
  • Provide financial insight and decision support to operations, maintenance, plant, and underground mine leadership.  
  • Review, approve, and mentor accounting work performed by junior staff.  
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.  
  • Ensure compliance with site safety standards, MSHA regulations, and company policies. 
  • Create and prepare financial reporting as assigned.
Experience Requirements  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience. 
  • Strong experience with month-end close, inventory accounting, and cost accounting. 
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage, Pronto), including financial, inventory, procurement, and cost modules. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations, data analysis, and reporting. 
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and internal control principles. 
 Preferred Experience 
  • CPA or CPA-eligible status preferred. 
  • Previous mine-site, manufacturing, or heavy industrial accounting experience preferred. 
  • Experience supporting audits and working in complex operational environments preferred. 
Physical Requirements  
  • Site-based role in an active mine operation.  
  • Regular interaction with operations, warehouse, and procurement areas.  
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.  
  • May require extended hours during month-end close, year-end close, or audit periods.
