Job Description

Reporting to the Imports Supervisor/Manager and as a member of the Global Sourcing Division, the Imports Specialist will work closely with Trade Compliance, Vendor Managers, International Logistics, DC Transportation and Traffic Teams to facilitate the smooth flow of inventory from origin to U.S. destination efficiently and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other regulatory agencies while mitigating costs and providing visibility of inventory in transit.
The Imports Specialist is responsible for daily import operations which include container tracking, Importer Security Filing (ISF), CBP cargo entries and releases, as well as all data transaction processing associated with any of the aforementioned responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compile and verify accuracy and completeness of documents and data from operating systems, templates and documentation from vendors as well as service providers required for both ISF and for CBP entry declarations
  • Provide visibility to inventory in-transit by generating and maintaining container tracking in the company’s operating system
  • Transfer ISF and CBP entry information from documents and other sources into the Automated Brokers Interface (ABI) software and transit to CBP along with required declarations for other related government agencies timely, completely and accurately
  • Prioritize work based on estimated time of container loading at origin and estimated time of arrival at U.S. port of entry
  • Monitor CBP response messages and take required actions to resolve warning messages, rejections and/or no bill match responses
  • Prepare entry document packets for cargo release or entry summary when requested by CBP
  • Communicate all issues impacting ISF or entry compliance
  • Confirm all containers at the port of discharge or container freight stations are available and clear of any CBP holds, other government agency holds/exams or ocean freight cashier holds prior to last free day and coordinate with the DC Transportation and Traffic Teams for timely pick-up of containers from port terminals and cargo exam sites 
  • Ensure proper payment of duties and fees to CBP    
  • Create and transmit post summary corrections (PSCs) as assigned
  • Liquidate entries which CBP has compared computation or ascertainment of duties on entries for consumption or drawback against liquidation reports
  • Retain entry documents in accordance to CBP recordkeeping requirements
  • Follow up and communicate in a timely manner with various departments within the organization
  • Other duties and reports as assigned by manager

The anticipated range for this position is $24.18 – $36.25 per hour depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 236 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Education (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, high School diploma or GED required

Experience (Required)
  • 1-2 years of experience in the industry preferred or in a comparable business role
