Position Summary


The School of Hospitality Business in Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University is seeking a fixed-term instructor to teach undergraduate students in the area of Private Membership Social and Recreational Club Operations and Management, including city, country, yacht, and athletic clubs. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching one section of HB321 Club Operations and Management (3 credits) in the fall semester of each academic year. Some student advising and curriculum development are expected as part of this position. The nurturing and maintenance of strong connections across the private membership social and recreational club industry are crucial to the success of this position. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a renowned institution and contribute to the development of future leaders in the club industry.

Required Degree


Masters


Minimum Requirements


The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university for the Ast. Instructor rank; a Master’s degree for Instructor Rank. The candidate must also have experience developing curriculum, and a passion for engaging and educating undergraduate students. Communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this position, as the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and interact with students from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, a commitment to outreach, administration, and advising is essential for this role.

 


Desired Qualifications


At least 10 years in a role with club management experience. Work experience in the hospitality industry on a global level is desired.


Certification from the Club Management Association of America as well as either the PGA of America or the LPGA.


A Master’s degree or progression towards a Master’s degree.
