Job Description

New Hampshire Housing’s mission is to promote, finance, and support housing solutions for the people of New Hampshire. We have empowered over 55,000 families to achieve their dream of homeownership and have played a pivotal role in funding the development of over 16,000 multifamily housing units. Our dedicated team manages thousands of Housing Choice Vouchers annually.

We’re on a mission, and we want your expertise!

Do you enjoy empowering individuals and families to build stability and work toward long‑term goals? Are you confident navigating complex, highly regulated programs while still leading with empathy and encouragement? If you’re excited by the idea of making a meaningful impact through mission‑driven work, we’d love to meet you.

We’re hiring a full-time Family Self Sufficiency Coach for our Assisted Housing Division.

As a Family Self Sufficiency Coach, you will blend coaching, compliance, and program administration to help families strengthen their financial independence and achieve lasting success. In this role, you will:

  • Assess program eligibility and ensure assets, income, and deductions are accurately calculated in compliance with HUD regulations and NH Housing’s Administrative Plan.
  • Manage and obligate approximately $5 million in monthly Housing Assistance Payments, helping ensure housing stability for families across New Hampshire.
  • Administer a wide range of HUD programs, including Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), Moderate Rehabilitation, Project-Based Voucher (PBV), Mainstream, Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH), Homeownership, Family Unification Program (FUP), Foster Youth to Independence (FYI), and other special-purpose vouchers, ensuring compliance while delivering high-quality service.
  • Coach and mentor FSS participants using HUD’s FSS Coaching tools, Action Plans, and publications—guiding clients to build self ‑confidence, life skills, and pathways toward their personal and professional goals.

To support onboarding and training, the first six months of employment will be conducted in-office. Following this period, remote work may be available on an intermittent basis, as determined by the manager.

Your experience, skills, and education should include:

  • Demonstrate a service-oriented mindset with all internal and external contacts.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English at a proficient level.
  • Proficiency in speaking an additional language is beneficial.
  •  Experience with Yardi Software is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

You’ll love us because:

  • We prioritize our employees and invest in policies, benefits, and a workplace culture that supports their success.
  • You’ll join a collaborative, highly engaged team that values diverse perspectives.
  • We are a recognized leader in the affordable housing industry and take pride in the quality and impact of our work.
