The Outreach and Events Coordinator, Summer Student, will support the PowerUp Training and Development Program associated with the Milli Gould Entrepreneurial Centre, by coordinating events, recruitment activities, and community engagement. This position will help identify pop-up markets, vendor opportunities, and community partnerships that support women and gender diverse entrepreneurs. The role will also assist with recruitment strategies for program enrolment, outreach to community partners, and logistical support for PowerUp events and showcases.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Developing a recruitment strategy to increase participation in PowerUp programs;
· Identifying and coordinating pop-ups, markets, and vendor opportunities for program participants;
· Supporting logistics, and promotion for events, workshops, and graduation showcases, and business out of the box;
· Building and maintaining relationships with community partners, business networks, and local markets;
· Supporting outreach activities through community visits, presentations, or promotional materials;
· Assisting with collecting feedback and participant satisfaction data;
· Supporting social media or marketing posts that highlight events and programming;
· Tracking outreach and event metrics and preparing summary reports;
· Ensuring compliance with YWCA Hamilton Health and Safety, , Human Rights, organizational policies;
· Maintaining confidentiality of client information;
· Participating in staff/team meetings and training;
· Performing other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Works 35-hour work week;
· Travel within the community required;
· Some evenings or weekends may be required for events
QUALIFICATIONS
· Enrolled in or recently completed post-secondary education in Event Management, Marketing, Business, Communications, Community Development, or related field (or equivalent experience);
· Experience planning events, coordinating logistics, or supporting community outreach activities;
· Strong understanding of small business and entrepreneurship ecosystems an asset;
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
· Ability to develop outreach strategies and build community relationships;
· Knowledge of social media and promotional tools an asset;
· Must work from a feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppressive perspective;
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
· Must provide a current Criminal Record Judicial Matters Check or willingness to obtain at own cost;
· Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain at own cost;
· Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
