JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Control Analytical Chemist performs professional analytical chemistry assignments and follows established procedures and methods. This position requires good judgement and an understanding of chemistry theories and concepts.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory analysis by use of GC, HPLC, viscometers, densitometers, particle size analyzers, and other established methods and techniques.
  • Operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.
  • Support in refining existing analytical methods.
  • Assist the formulation chemists by providing quantitative and qualitative analysis of new and existing products.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control tests on company products and distribute information to appropriate personnel.
  • Properly document results and assist in the development and improvement of laboratory SOPs.
  • Adhere to all compliance requirements and maintain all laboratory databases with new results for record keeping and report generation.
  • Interact and communicate results and activities to Lab Management, Production, Operations, and Customer Service.
  • Actively participate and maintain compliance with company HSE program and policies.
  • Keep abreast of current industry trends, practices, and analytical techniques.
  • Cooperate and communicate fully with other corporate personnel to meet corporate objectives.
  • Perform packaging line checks each day during production. Correct bottle, product weights, cap, cap toques, labels, cartons, and printed carton – bottle lot codes.
  • Document, record measurements, weights, and findings for batch records.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science required, MS preferred
  • Experience and knowledge in chemistry (polymer and formulation) and materials science is essential
  • Ability to write clear scientific reports and effectively communicate results and recommendations to team members and collaborators
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, across functions, and external partners
  • Expertise in handling and use of processing equipment such as wet and dry grinding mills, high speed mixers and granulators
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations and safety requirements
  • Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) requirements is beneficial, but not required
  • PC skills (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations): Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
