Lead our North American import operations by managing compliance with US customs regulations, overseeing freight logistics, and serving as the key liaison between the company and customs authorities. This strategic role leads a team of Import Coordinators while ensuring efficient and compliant import processes for our oil and gas operations.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain a comprehensive import compliance program aligned with US Customs regulations
Oversee daily processing of import shipments including document review, freight arrangements, and customs clearance
Apply preferential duty programs and free trade agreements, particularly USMCA
Lead responses to Customs inquiries and manage the Post Entry Audit Program
Coordinate with Trade Compliance team on product classification per HTSUS
Manage operational relationships with US Customs Brokers including SOPs and POAs
Oversee ACH payments to Customs and approve import invoices
Lead team of Import Coordinators and provide training on import compliance matters
Conduct quarterly business reviews with customs brokers and establish department KPIs
Identify process improvement opportunities through knowledge of valuation, bonded facilities, and duty-free treatments
Skills Required:
Comprehensive knowledge of US Trade Compliance Laws
Strong understanding of international logistics, especially China-US trade
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with Incoterms 2020
Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and transportation management systems
Experience with US Customs ACE secure data portal
Qualifications Required:
Current U.S. Customs Broker's license
Associate degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or equivalent combination of higher degree and experience
Minimum 10 years managing imports for the oil and gas industry
4-6 years of management experience
Experience with U.S. Customs Focused Assessments
Qualifications Preferred:
Experience with Oracle Transportation Management System
JDE experience
Knowledge of Canadian customs regulations
Position requires 10-20% travel and ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
