     POSITION:                       Preschool Meal Time Aide

     

    LOCATION:                       Allen Early Learning Academy

     

    HOURS:                            2.5 hours/day, 5 days per week

                                             12.5 hours per week

                                                                                                              

    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    Responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks to the children in their preschool programs as planned and according to family style regulations. Also responsible for kitchen sanitation and cleanliness. 

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    1. High school graduate or equivalent
    2. Must complete food safety training
    3. Good attendance record
    4. Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions
    5. Work independently with minimal supervision
    6. Establish and maintain professional relationships

     

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    May include, but not limited to:

     

    1. Assists in the preparation of a variety of menu items
    2. Washing, cutting, and traying fruits and vegetables
    3. Serving food in portions to students to meet the mandated nutritional requirements
    4. Traying, restocking, and arranging food items in an efficient manner to be displayed with aesthetically pleasing consideration in order to increase meal participation
    5. Set up and restocking supplies, before, during, and after meal service
    6. Assists in the preparation of breakfasts and/or lunches by assembling, heating, and portioning food items
    7. Ensuring compliance with nutrition standards by overseeing student choices, and educating students on correct choices including: taking enough menu components for their tray and including a fruit or vegetable with each meal
    8. Assists in packaging, proper temperature handling, and storage of ready to eat meals
    9. Cleaning of kitchen, serving area, and equipment
    10. Operate Point of Sale system and/or cash register; may collect money, accurately make change, and count money
    11. Contributes in daily reports such as production records or temp logs
    12. Washing dishes and/or loading dishwasher
    13. Maintain positive relationships with building staff and any substitutes
    14. Bending, lifting, and overhead work required
    15. Ability to stand for minimum 4 hours at a time
    16. Ability to work significant temperature variations
    17. Other tasks as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager

    RATE OF PAY           $15.83 per hour

    EVALUATION:        Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.   Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books or food. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

     

    Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically finger printed for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check. The fingerprinting is conducted by a third party and is at the expense of the applicant. Cost for fingerprinting is approximately $70.00.
