Overview

The Company Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for obtaining and managing Insight Global’s Facility Security Clearance by ensuring that all of the Contract Security Program (CSP) requirements related to federal government contracts involving protected or classified information, assets, and work sites are met. The CSO serves as the primary point of contact with Public Services and Procurement Canada’s CSP and is accountable for company compliance with the Contract Security Manual (CSM).

 

You will work closely with internal leadership, security teams, and external legal counsel to ensure successful clearance acquisition and ongoing compliance. Additionally, you will oversee the administration of the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and personnel screening for consultants requiring Reliability Status or higher.

This is a high-impact role requiring exceptional integrity, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence organizational policies to meet federal security standards.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the organization’s security clearance, ensuring it remains active and in good standing.
  • Interpret and apply security clauses and requirements from federal contracts and ensure organizational adherence.
  • Act as the company’s official point of contact with the CSP on all security matters.
  • Initiate security screening requests and complete preliminary background checks where required.
  • Brief and train employees on their security responsibilities.
  • Maintain security screening files and documentation in compliance with applicable privacy laws (e.g., Privacy Act, PIPEDA)
  • Manage and submit requests for security status updates, upgrades, reactivations, and terminations in a timely manner.
  • Conduct security site assessments and maintain records of annual inspections.
  • Ensure subcontractors and third parties meet federal security requirements before engagement.
  • Coordinate security-related approvals with the CSP before awarding subcontracts that have security obligations.
  • Promptly report security incidents, suspicious contacts, or compromised information/assets to senior management and the CSP.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents and compliance activities.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness across the organization, including regular reminders about security policies, emerging threats, and obligations tied to security clearances.
  • Obtain Designated Official status for Insight Global as it relates to Controlled Goods Clearance and actively manage and maintain the organization’s clearance, and conduct CGP security assessments as required
  • Develop internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the CSP and the CGP, and improve practices relating to Canadian government procurement security requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance (mandatory) and must meet the qualifications for registration with the CGP.
  • Canadian citizen
  • Physically located in Canada and able to work from the Ottawa office.
  • 3+ years as a CSO or 5+ years as an ACSO within a Canadian professional services or government contracting environment.
  • Proven experience elevating corporate facility clearance and managing end-to-end security processes.
  • Strong network and relationships within Canadian federal programs and prime contractors.
  • Previous experience with the Controlled Goods Program
