We are seeking a Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with nuclear engineering experience to support work at the Vistra Comanche Peak nuclear station.
What You'll Do Here:
- Prepare Engineering Change Packages including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams, instrument hookups, etc. for plant modification packages including digital upgrades.
- Prepare specifications for control of plant process/auxiliary systems.
- Prepare and review logic diagrams and system functional descriptions for implementation of system control logic into plant control systems.
- Evaluate and specify pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation.
- Perform engineering calculations for a nuclear plant such as instrument set-points, electrical loading changes, etc.
- Perform Digital Upgrade evaluations.
- Interface with equipment vendors, including providing oversight and review of project submittals such as drawings, O&M manuals and software quality documentation.
- Candidates will support multiple projects and support coordination of activities with clients, contractors, vendors and other members of the project teams.
What You Bring To The Team:
- B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited 4-year university
- 8 years’ overall experience in design, operations or field service/support for power plants or heavy industrial facilities
- 5 years of experience relating to design of operating nuclear power plants in the U.S.
- NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
- Current or recent qualifications to independently prepare nuclear modification packages at a commercial nuclear plant (i.e., qualified to a utility/owner Quality Assurance program) [preferred]
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in US (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of engineering design and analysis. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with nuclear regulations and industry standards
- Experience to include leading a team of engineers and technicians and training/mentoring junior staff
- Good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, clients, contractors and vendors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Expertise using Microsoft Office products
- Must be able to obtain unescorted access to nuclear plants and other facilities requiring background checks and pre-employment/random.
- Field experience at an operating nuclear plant
