Job Title:

Adjunct Professor – Engineering Department

Job Summary:

The University of San Francisco (USF) Engineering Department is looking for an ENGR 411: Project & Design Capstone II instructor for the Spring 2025 semester.

Full Job Description:

The engineering program at USF is a student-focused, hands-on, project-based program immersed in a Jesuit liberal arts education. Students in their senior year of this program work on a year-long capstone project where students integrate their engineering knowledge and design skills to address a real-world project. All projects are socio-technical investigations, the scope and context of which are defined in Project & Design Capstone I taught during Fall ’24. Project & Design Capstone II is the second part of the capstone experience, focusing on the refinement of prototypes, analysis of results, and the production of a final deliverable.

The class is 4 units, meeting three times per week for ~1 hour each, or two times a week for ~1.5 hrs each. Major instructor responsibilities include (and are not limited to):

  • Coordinating and managing all the student capstone projects, specifically with regard to project milestones and timelines.

  • Coordinating timelines and deliverables and communicating with external project partners.

  • Communicating with internal project advisers in the Engineering department to ensure projects are progressing at an acceptable pace.

  • Working on student communication and presentation skills, and coordinating monthly project presentations.

  • Managing project teams and group work in capstone projects that are shared between multiple students.

  • Holding regular office hours.

Please reach out with any questions to department chair Lauren Sassoubre at [email protected]
