Role Objective
The SPC Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and sustaining Statistical Process Control systems across IC Assembly and Test operations in a Greenfield OSAT facility.
This role is critical to:
- Establish process capability, stability, and predictability
- Enable data‑driven decision making
- Prevent defects through early detection of process shifts
- Support Automotive, Industrial, and Aerospace quality expectations
Key Responsibilities
1. SPC System Deployment (Greenfield Focus)
- Lead end‑to‑end SPC framework deployment for IC Assembly and Test processes.
- Define critical process parameters, CTQs, and control characteristics.
- Select and implement appropriate control charts (Xbar‑R, Xbar‑S, I‑MR, P, NP, C, U charts).
- Establish sampling plans, subgrouping strategies, and reaction plans.
2. Process Capability & Stability
- Perform Process Capability Analysis (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) during:
- Tool qualification
- Line qualification
- NPI / New package ramp‑up
- Identify sources of common and special cause variation.
- Drive process centering and variation reduction initiatives.
3. Manufacturing & Quality Integration
- Work closely with Process Engineering, Production, Equipment, and QE teams.
- Support control plan development and linkage to SPC controls.
- Ensure SPC outputs are aligned with:
- PFMEA
- Control Plans
- Customer requirements
- Participate in daily Gemba, yield reviews, and excursion analysis.
4. Data Analysis & Digital SPC
- Establish digital SPC dashboards and alerts (MES / SPC software / Excel / JMP / Minitab).
- Monitor process trends and proactively flag:
- Out‑of‑control conditions
- Capability degradation
- Develop automated SPC reports for:
- Management reviews
- Customer audits
- Certification audits
5. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Lead statistical analysis during:
- Process excursions
- Customer complaints
- Yield degradation
- Apply structured methodologies:
- SPC interpretation
- DOE (basic & intermediate)
- 8D / DMAIC support
- Drive sustainable corrective actions through data validation.
6. Training & Culture Building
- Train operators, technicians, engineers, and supervisors on:
- SPC concepts
- Chart interpretation
- Reaction plan execution
- Build SPC discipline and data integrity culture on the shop floor.
- Act as SPC Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the plant.
7. Compliance & Customer Expectations
- Ensure SPC compliance to:
- IATF 16949 / Automotive customer requirements
- ISO 9001
- AS9100 (where applicable)
- Support customer audits, line walks, and SPC reviews.
- Ensure proper linkage between SPC, MSA, Control Plans, and PFMEA.

Education & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Engineering (Electronics / Mechanical / Industrial / Mechatronics preferred)
- Statistics / Applied Mathematics (with manufacturing exposure)
Experience
- 3–7 years of SPC / Quality Engineering experience in:
- Semiconductor Assembly & Test (preferred)
- Electronics manufacturing / high‑volume manufacturing
- Exposure to greenfield setup, line ramp‑up, or new product introduction is a strong advantage.
Tools & Systems Exposure
- SPC / Statistical Tools: Minitab, JMP,Camline
- Manufacturing systems: MES, Yield Management Systems
- Quality systems: FMEA, Control Plan, NPI Quality
