Job Description

About the Department

Performs semi-routine clerical accounting work in a college business office operation and handles cash receipts and customer service. Work activities generally follow established procedures within well-defined field under indirect supervision.

Position Duties

  • Collect tuition and other forms of payment from various sources.
  • Reconcile daily receipts and prepare bank deposits.
  • Distribute/mail accounts payable checks. Assemble backup and copies for filing in the accounts payable office.
  • Receive student phone calls and research questions pertaining to student account and/or student tuition (1098-T) statements, refund, and payment plans.
  • Collect funds from college-owned vending equipment.
  • Perform follow-up calls to students and/or customers regarding payments, due dates, and delinquent accounts.
  • Maintain petty cash account.
  • Track and sell computer testing vouchers.
  • Attend seminars/classes as needed for professional development.
  • Maintain regular attendance/punctuality.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • The ability to establish an effective rapport with all PSC faculty and staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with special attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • General office skills.
  • Experience with computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Ability to work under indirect supervision, following standard practices in the performance of work.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work additional hours during peak periods.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to external training facilities/seminars. May require overnight stay.
Salary and Benefits Information
  • This position is level C13

Required Education:
  • Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent diploma) required.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum one (1) year of related clerical/cashier work experience.
