About the Department
Performs semi-routine clerical accounting work in a college business office operation and handles cash receipts and customer service. Work activities generally follow established procedures within well-defined field under indirect supervision.
Position Duties
- Collect tuition and other forms of payment from various sources.
- Reconcile daily receipts and prepare bank deposits.
- Distribute/mail accounts payable checks. Assemble backup and copies for filing in the accounts payable office.
- Receive student phone calls and research questions pertaining to student account and/or student tuition (1098-T) statements, refund, and payment plans.
- Collect funds from college-owned vending equipment.
- Perform follow-up calls to students and/or customers regarding payments, due dates, and delinquent accounts.
- Maintain petty cash account.
- Track and sell computer testing vouchers.
- Attend seminars/classes as needed for professional development.
- Maintain regular attendance/punctuality.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- The ability to establish an effective rapport with all PSC faculty and staff.
- Excellent organizational skills, with special attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- General office skills.
- Experience with computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Ability to work under indirect supervision, following standard practices in the performance of work.
- Must be available to work additional hours during peak periods.
- Must be able to travel occasionally to external training facilities/seminars. May require overnight stay.
- This position is level C13.
Required Education:
- Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent diploma) required.
- Minimum one (1) year of related clerical/cashier work experience.
