Job Description

Job Description: Manufacturing Engineer Intern

Location: This position is onsite and is based in Wilmington, MA

Position Summary:

Energetiq is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a dynamic and growing technology company as a Summer Intern. This position will play an integral role in bringing Energetiq’s laser-driven light source products out of the lab, and into the hands of our customers. This is a hands-on role, responsible for supporting manufacturing operations, designing test equipment, and improving processes. This role requires a creative & technical mind, passionate about solving engineering challenges across a variety of disciplines. This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Quality. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team on the development of electro-mechanical assembly & test equipment.
  • Work with R&D team to transition new product designs into manufacturing.
  • Assist in implementation of process improvement projects on the shop floor.
  • Learn how to apply technical engineering knowledge to real-world problems.  

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Junior or Senior working towards a degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Robotic, or Automation engineering.
  • Comfortable working across disciplines to expand their skill set.
  • Curiosity to explore new methods of building our product.
  • Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, and/or work under and behind furniture and other obstacles. Occasional work in “clean room” environments, while wearing PPE, may be required
  • Ability to use basic hand tools for the assembly of equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD tools such as Solidworks, AutoCAD, Fusion360, or similar.
  • Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly principles and best practices
  • Experience with LabVIEW, Python, or other programming language(s)
  • Experience with basic electronics / circuit design
  • Experience with basic metal fabrication equipment (Mill/Lathe) and/or 3D printing

The compensation hourly rate for this role is $20/hr. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
