Job Description
Responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks. Assists in preparing the patient and the room for procedures under the direction of the technologist or radiologist. Takes patient history, explains procedure, give out contrast, injections, and place IVs for contrast injections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Calls patients to confirm appointments and performs a pre-screening interview with the patient before their appointment date.
Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and records information in patients’ file.
Prepares patient for exam (changing into gown, removing all metal).
Prepares treatment room and trays for examination.
Administers contrast, injections and assists with IV when needed.
Seeks past images for patients who have them or are needed.
Call reports to the referring physician’s office, when requested.
Stock/order supplies, fax reports, and any other duties that may be assigned daily.
High school diploma or equivalent. Certified M.A. preferred. IV certification preferred.
Current CPR certification.
Minimum of one-year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related.
Basic knowledge of radiology and imaging office procedures.
Skill in using computer and medical records software and RIS/PACS competently to process patient images and department information.
Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians and other staff.
