LOCATION: St. Paul
PAY RATE: 16.50
HOURS: This role has an opening for summer 2026, 6 hours a week, for one student. For Fall 2026-Spring 2027, students can work up to 8 hours a week.
Job Summary
Student Affairs is looking for a creative, curious, and motivated student to join our team as a Communications & Content Creation Intern. In this role, you’ll help tell the story of the St. Thomas student experience—capturing what it means to be a Tommie and bringing that to life across digital platforms.
This is more than just posting on social media. You’ll play an active role in shaping how students see and connect with campus life. From highlighting events and traditions to showcasing student voices and behind-the-scenes moments, your work will help build community across the division.
What You’ll Do
- Create and curate engaging content (photos, videos, graphics, and captions) that highlights student life and Student Affairs initiatives
- Be comfortable on camera, whether hosting, interviewing students, or participating in short-form video content
- Attend campus events to capture real-time content and actively engage with the experience
- Interview students, spotlight clubs and organizations, and help bring authentic student stories forward
- Support the promotion and recap of events, balancing marketing with storytelling and lived experience
- Design digital and print materials using tools like Canva, CapCut, Edits, etc
- Collaborate with staff and student teams to brainstorm and execute creative campaigns
- Learn to track engagement and understand what content resonates with the campus community
Who You Are
You’re someone who enjoys being around people, is open to trying new things, and isn’t afraid to step in front of the camera. You’re curious about what’s happening on campus and excited to help others see and experience it.
- Interest or experience in communications, marketing, social media, or digital storytelling
- Familiarity with platforms like Instagram and TikTok, and an awareness of trends
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail
- Comfort engaging with peers, asking questions, and capturing authentic moments
- Creativity and initiative; you bring ideas, not just execution
- Ability to manage time, follow through, and work both independently and as part of a team
Why This Role Matters
Your work will directly shape how students experience and engage with campus. You’ll build a portfolio of real, impactful content while gaining hands-on experience in storytelling, strategy, and student engagement.
If offered an interview, please prepare a portfolio with three pieces:
- Social Media Post (Carousel style)
- Instagram Reel
- TikTok
