Occupational Therapy Assistant- Utah State Hospital

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

  • Evaluate patient needs and capacities in collaboration with Occupational therapist.
  • Plan and facilitate group and individual treatment to improve life, social, and coping skills performance.
  • Effectively document and communicate patient progress and response to treatment.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary care team of psychiatrists, medical doctors, nurses, and social workers to ensure optimal patient care.
  • On the job training for all experience levels.
  • A variety of treatment and assessment opportunities.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must possess certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association and Licensure from the Utah Occupational Therapy License Board.

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Have experience working with psychiatric patients in a healthcare setting.
  • Possess great communication and organizational skills.
  • Have a desire to effect positive change in individuals with mental health and behavioral challenges. 

About the Role

Nestled up against the beautiful Wasatch mountains of Utah
County, this sprawling 300 acre campus is home to multiple units specializing
in the mental healthcare of psychiatric patients. Ranging from pediatric to
geriatric-aged patients, the Occupational Therapy Assistant will be able to
work with a variety of patients to ensure proper therapeutic treatment is
administered. 

Staff use standardized assessments of cognition, sensory
processing and modulation, and functional performance in addition to task
analysis to inform treatment plans and provide social skills, sensory coping,
and life skills training according to needs and level of functioning of the
individual served.

The shift is Monday through Friday--No Weekends Required!
