MISSION: Futuro Health launched in 2020 to address the critical shortage of workers in the healthcare sector. Position Summary: The Career Advisor supports scholar success by providing individualized and group advising that strengthens retention, enrollment conversion, and career readiness. This role guides scholars in defining career goals, developing professional skills, and selecting programs while staying current on healthcare workforce trends and labor market needs. The advisor manages an active caseload, builds supportive relationships, addresses barriers to career preparation, and maintains accurate records. They create and refine advising materials, including workshops, webinars, scripts, and resources. This role will collaborate closely with other departments to ensure aligned processes, timely escalations, and a seamless scholar experience. All work is performed with professionalism and in compliance with privacy, security, and FERPA requirements.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Contribute to retention, enrollment conversion, and/or career outcomes through effective advising. 
  • Assist scholars in identifying career goals aligned with their interests, skills, and academic programs.
  • Facilitate 1:1 coaching, group sessions, workshops, and webinars to support the professional development of scholars pertaining to career development. Including but not limited to: resume writing, interview preparation and mock meetings, program exploration and fit, LinkedIn optimization, job search strategies, and placement data collection.
  • Continuously research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare workforce trends, credentialing requirements, clinical placement standards, and employer expectations. Apply this knowledge to provide accurate guidance to scholars and ensure alignment with evolving industry standards.
  • Stay informed about labor market trends and share insights with scholars.
  • Manage scholar caseload; build relationships provide solutions to help scholars overcome obstacles for career preparation.
  • Ensure all meetings with scholars are completed or actively attempting to be scheduled. 
  • Collaborate with managers to develop and improve processes and content.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of advising tools, including but not limited to: interview preparation materials, allied health specific resume templates, meeting and presentation scripts, and more.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date scholar information in the database, including but not limited to regular updates of scholar statuses, detailed conversational notes, and secure collection of documents. 
  • Use best practices and sound judgment to support scholars facing personal challenges, identifying and appropriately escalating crisis situations. 
  • Work with scholars to develop a plan to achieve their career goals while assessing their unique obstacles and opportunities for success. 
  • Assist prospective scholars in career exploration effectively by navigating admissions and enrollment processes to ensure they meet deadlines and apply for the best program fit.
  • Communicate professionally with partners and scholars. 
  • Assist team members with meetings and scholar outreach as needed to ensure quality standards are met consistently. 
  • Meet exceptional service standards, responding in a timely manner to voicemails, text messages, and emails according to Futuro Health service standards and outreach scheduling. 
  • Maintain knowledge on all facets of Futuro Health and its mission to accurately reflect the role of Futuro Health in a scholar’s journey. 
  • Work closely with the team to ensure that scholar escalations are coordinated by urgency level and addressed in a timely manner. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and outcome reporting and data accuracy.
  • To maintain security, employees are required to read, understand, and follow company security policies. 
  • Must protect the confidentiality of scholar personal information and comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). 
  • Must comply with all company procedures and policies, including company privacy and security policies.  

Miscellaneous:

  • Attend All-Hands meetings, division meetings, and 1-on-1 meetings with supervisors. 
  • Complete HR goal setting, mid-year update, and year-end updates by deadlines. 
  • Participate in Bi-annual evaluation process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of direct experience in Career Services field with students or adult professionals.
  • Experience in developing and updating curriculum and new processes.
  • Ability to de-escalate negative interactions. 
  • Ability to retain and utilize substantial amounts of detailed information. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through email, text, phone, and in person. 
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handling and prioritizing simultaneous requests. Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond well under pressure. 
  • Must have proficient spelling/grammar and intermediate computer literacy.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a Service role, or Academic setting. 


Supervisory Responsibility: This role does not have supervisory responsibility over other staff. 


Work Environment/Travel: This is a remote role. Travel will be required to attend meetings and conferences.


Physical Demands: Able to sit, stand, and type for long periods of time. Ability to work irregular hours including after hours and weekends although this will be infrequent. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  

 

Position Type: This position is full-time, non-exempt. The hours may include weekends, nights and holidays.
