WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Automation Support Engineer is responsible for supporting client production facilities across operational layers. The Automation Support Engineer must be able to support and maintain PLC platforms such as ControlLogix, Siemens, Mitsubishi and others.
This role requires the ability to manage regular interruptions to support emergent client needs. The qualified candidate should thrive on a varied day-to-day work experience across Flexware’s industry verticals and service lines. Ability to work cross-functionally across all levels of Flexware’s service lines is critical to success in this role. Deep technical capability at all levels is not required, but basic understanding and ability to determine the root cause of the issue is required.
The position will require exceptional intrapersonal, communication, team, and networking skills to ensure long-term success. Successful candidates will operate autonomously, with a sense of urgency, work with senior technical staff when necessary, follow ethical practices and put Flexware Innovation values at the center of all activities.
Here are some of the technologies and responsibilities that you will be responsible for:
Support client production facilities including:
Support, maintain, and deploy PLC-based control systems, including (but not limited to) ControlLogix and Siemens processors; perform updates, diagnostics, and on-site commissioning support as needed
Support, maintain, and deploy HMI/SCADA applications, including (but not limited to) FactoryTalk View ME/SE, Wonderware InTouch, Ignition, and others; troubleshoot runtime issues and implement enhancements
Support, maintain, and commission VFDs, including (but not limited to) PowerFlex, Schneider, ABB, and others; tune parameters, resolve faults, and verify performance
Troubleshoot and support industrial networking components and communications (EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet); isolate connectivity issues and restore service
Provide operational support for automation and controls solutions including programming changes, simulation/testing support, start-up assistance, and post go-live stabilization; prioritize reliability, uptime, and safe operation
Create and maintain functional documentation to support ongoing operations (control narratives/schemes, alarms, HMI behavior, reports, and related support runbooks)
Calibrate, troubleshoot, test, repair, and continuously improve sensing, measurement, and actuation devices to maintain accuracy and equipment performance

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE DONE BEFORE
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and/or equivalent work experience.
1 – 2 years’ experience in manufacturing technologies preferred
Solid English verbal and written communication skills.
Up to 30-40% travel may be required
