Job Description

East Stroudsburg University is hiring for a Senior Applications Developer! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun. 

As the Senior Applications Developer, you will need to provide strategic leadership for the University’s enterprise application ecosystem. You will be an active member of the Computing & Communications team and will work closely with the Chief Information and Technology Officer to lead the application integration process using API’s middleware, ETL tools and scheduling platforms. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your previous application development experience with your computer science or information system background all while ensuring enterprise systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with the ESU & PASSHE governed compliance. To be successful in this role, the applicant must effectively align enterprise application services with institutional strategy and compliance requirements, lead complex system integrations and business process improvement initiatives, and skillfully collaborate with departments to ensure technical expertise is applied effectively for campus support.  

Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Senior Applications Developer. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Supervise and mentor professional
    staff responsible for enterprise application development, support, and,
    integration.
  • Direct development, enhancement,
    and operational support of Ellucian Banner modules, including Student,
    Financial Aid, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger.
  • Guide technical strategy for
    related enterprise platforms such as Degree Works, TouchNet, Starfish (EAB),
    and StarRez.
  • Coordinate Banner upgrades,
    patches, and enhancements.
  • Design, develop, and oversee
    Oracle PL/SQL scripts, packages, stored procedures, and automated processes.
  • Establish and enforce enterprise
    development standards focused on security, performance, maintainability, and
    data governance.
  • Ensure adherence to formal SDLC,
    change management, quality assurance, and production migration processes.
  • Maintain technical documentation,
    application inventories, data classifications, and integration mappings.

 What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computing Sciences, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in enterprise application development, system integration, or information management.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, preferably within a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL (development of scripts, packages, stored procedures, and performance optimization).
  • Hands on experience with Ellucian Banner ERP (module support, architecture, workflows, and integrations) and Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Proficient use of API-based integrations, ETL processes, and middleware platforms.
  • History of interacting with database technologies including Oracle, SQL, and MySQL.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Able to think critically and apply sound judgement to complex technical and operational problems.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
