Role
The Duty Manager is the leader who represents the General Manager and the Leadership Team at the hotel during operating hours from 2 PM to 11 PM. The Duty Manager is expected to ensure that operations run smoothly during these critical hours when management presence is reduced. They are also responsible for making decisions regarding any incidents and assume accountability for any issues related to any department during their shift. They serve as the personal point of contact for guest relations, ensuring that all guest needs are exceeded quickly and efficiently, while maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a proactive approach and strong leadership in service delivery, organizational culture, team development, professional image, systems, procedures, and skill enhancement.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of proper equipment use and maintenance.
- Ensures strict confidentiality of guest information and all relevant hotel data.
- Fosters and maintains positive relationships with guests at all times.
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of all resort services, features, and local attractions and activities, enabling effective responses to guest inquiries.
- Maintains full awareness of all safety procedures, demonstrating a clear understanding of emergency protocols and the appropriate actions required.
- Reports any maintenance issues, including but not limited to lighting, landscaping, or painting, to the Maintenance Department in a timely manner.
- Documents all inspected areas thoroughly during each shift, completing the Duty Manager checklist with detailed comments and photographic evidence when applicable.
- Conducts regular inspections of public areas to ensure proper presentation and to identify any unusual conditions that may pose risks to guests or staff.
- Evaluates all aspects of each area, including cleanliness, organization, staff attitude and appearance, staffing levels, safety conditions, ambiance, and décor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or equivalent.
- 2 years of previous experience in the position within luxury hotel operations.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish.
