The Assistant Manager, Mortgage Closing provides exceptional leadership while managing and directing the daily operations of the mortgage closing process and closing team and initial disclosure desk process. They provide expert guidance to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant preparation and delivery of closing disclosures and documents and initial document packages and redisclosure of initial loan estimates for loan files by team members while providing our credit union partners with a thrilling, five-star service experience.
1) Leads daily production and meets quality expectations to achieve monthly business goals and quality closing service levels. Provide exceptional leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance reviews of myCUmortgage experts in the Closing and initial disclosure desk area; includes developing of myCUmortgage experts. Assist Manager, Mortgage Closing with training, guiding, and motivation a team of experts, keeping them current with changes to investor/agency guidelines, compliance and regulatory requirements, and system functionality. Ensure assigned business units are operating efficiently and reliably, are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules, have appropriate operating controls to mitigate risk and are performing at a high level. 2) Provides five-star service and exceptional leadership and coaching and regularly reviews the performance of myCUmortgage experts working in the closing and initial disclosure desk area; includes developing myCUmortgage experts for promotional opportunities, as appropriate. Promotes a professional, partner-focused team environment. Fosters direct reports to have open, proactive communication with partner credit union and settlement agents to ensure a seamless transaction and accurate preparation of documents for timely processing of settlement. Develops a team of experts to explain the whys and closing steps or documentation in an easy-to-understand manner to our partner credit unions. Serves as the point of contact for partner credit union escalation on closing concerns and/or issues. (30%)
3) Assist Manager in ensuring closing and initial disclosure desk operation policies, procedures, and standards are in place, follow investor and agency guidelines, and are consistently applied with the team to produce a thrilling five-star service closing experience to Partner Credit Unions while maintaining a high level of loan quality. Remain current with investor and agency guidelines and requirements (20%)
4) Manage pipeline reports to prioritize loans worked in order to maintain allotted turn times across the team. Assist with daily operations on the closing team when experts are out of the office. Review and uphold loans for compliance within all state and federal mortgage-related regulations (e.g. RESPA, HPML, HOEPA, TRID, etc) Ensures that partners understand and adhere to the myCUmortgage brand promise to our partner credit unions. (20%)
The Assistant Manager, Mortgage Closing is skilled and knowledgeable in managing and operating a mortgage operations function.
1) A high school diploma or GED required (Associate’s Degree in Business preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2) Minimum of two years of management experience, preferably in the mortgage industry, or equivalent time in a leadership role. A proven ability to effectively lead a team.
3) Minimum of 2 years’ previous experience with first mortgage closing, including experience with secondary market and agency guidelines.
4) Ability to motivate, develop, and reward staff.
5) Demonstrated ability to analyze, reason, problem solve and prioritize work independently.
6) Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state regulations/laws as they pertain to mortgage lending and the ability to adhere to them.
7) Effective time management.
8) Demonstrated basic knowledge of Conventional, USDA, VA and FHA and construction perm mortgage lending with an emphasis on closing and initial disclosure documents and valid change in circumstance when initial disclosure package needs to be disclosed or redisclosed processes.
9) Demonstrated working knowledge with Microsoft Office products.
10) Proficient in data entry, attention to detail and computer skills, including spreadsheets, internet commerce, word processing, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
