FACULTY - DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY (DPT) PROGRAM

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUoHP) is currently accepting applications for a faculty position at the assistant, associate, or professor level.  This position is a 12-month appointment that will begin in the fall semester of 2026.  The ideal candidate will have teaching experience in cardiopulmonary and/or applied physiology, earned a post professional doctoral degree (PhD, DSc, ScD or EdD), and be eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the state of Utah.  Applicants with a clinical doctorate, advanced clinical certification, and/or specialty certification will also be considered. Salary and rank are commensurate with academic qualifications and experience.  

Responsibilities include instruction of entry level DPT students in cardiopulmonary, applied physiology, and other areas of expertise with a focus on evidence-based practice; participate in scholarly activity; and be involved with departmental, university, professional and community service. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Expected Salary Range: $100,000 

(Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE

This is an exempt, salaried faculty position based at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Faculty primarily work in a campus-based academic environment, with responsibilities that include classroom instruction, student advising, committee work, and scholarly activities. Evening or occasional weekend commitments may be required to support instructional, governance, or university events.


ABOUT THE ROLE

The Faculty, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) role supports the academic, service, and scholarship missions of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Core faculty members deliver curriculum, assess student learning, advise students, engage in scholarship and service, and participate in shared governance. Faculty collaborate closely with the Program Director to plan, coordinate, administer, and continuously improve all aspects of the DPT program.

  • Design, deliver, and evaluate assigned DPT coursework using effective instructional strategies
  • Prepare instructional materials and assess student learning outcomes
  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic progression and professional development
  • Participate in curriculum design, implementation, and continuous assessment
  • Engage in shared governance at the program and university level
  • Contribute to accreditation-related activities and program outcome assessment
  • Participate in peer review and student evaluation processes
  • Serve on program and university committees consistent with rank and experience
  • Maintain active involvement in scholarship and/or clinical practice appropriate to faculty rank
  • Engage in professional, community, or service activities that support education and research


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)

Education

  • Post-professional doctoral degree

Experience

  • Eligibility to meet faculty requirements outlined in the Evaluative Criteria for Physical Therapist Education Programs

Licensure, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirements affecting physical therapy education
  • Ability to teach, assess, and advise adult learners
  • Ability to participate in shared governance and peer review
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students and employees with disabilities in compliance with ADA requirements

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active clinical practice experience
  • Prior teaching experience in a physical therapy academic program
  • Experience with academic or administrative governance
  • Scholarly activity, including independent or collaborative research
  • Active participation in professional organizations at the local, state, or national level
