JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE: Offal/Wastewater Technician                                     DATE: 4/2026 

 

REPORTS TO: Utilities Supervisor                                                  STATUS: Non-exempt

JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all wastewater equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment related to wastewater, DAF system, and loading of Offal material into trucks.
  • Monitors control panels and panel board, and adjusts controls, valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow, pressure elevation and distribution.
  • Processes, stores, and hauls process residuals in accordance with plant schedules and regulatory requirements.
  • Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests.
  • Utilizes data management tools for daily process control, such as computer spreadsheets and programs.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Operate and maintain equipment used in the wastewater department.
  2. Troubleshoot issues and repair equipment or systems when necessary.
  3. Processes and hauls residuals in accordance with plant schedules and regulatory requirements.
  4. Monitors and adjusts controls to regulate flow, pressure elevation and distribution.
  5. Collects samples for testing, performs control tests and records data.
  6. Ensure efficient communication with all levels of organization to ensure proper support.
  7. Supervise staff handling performance management, timekeeping, and training.
  8. Assist in areas of cost reduction, process improvement, quality improvement, providing suggestions as applicable.
  9. Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  10. Attend meetings and trainings as required.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  1. Knowledge of wastewater processes.
  2. Valid drivers license
  3. Skill in using a personal computer and a variety of software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  4. Skill in communicating in a courteous and professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
  5. Basic math skills.
  6. Ability to read and understand schematics.
  7. Ability to lift up to fifty pounds.
  8. Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces.
  9. Ability to adhere to all safety standards and wear all necessary personal protective equipment.
  10. Ability to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment.
  11. Ability to work on-call as required, including flexible hours and weekends.
  12. Ability to maintain equipment – grease, adjust belts, change oil and minor equipment rebuilds.

 

 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate Degree in industrial maintenance or related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in offal/wastewater operations preferably industrial, but will consider municipal experience.
  • Wastewater License preferred but not required.
