This part-time position will assist the Parks and Recreation Department in a variety of areas to include special events, summer programs, athletic leagues, office management, preparation of promotional materials, and all other job related duties for the department.
Position Duties
- Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with a variety of special events, summer programs, and athletic leagues.
- Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with daily activities and set-ups coordinated by the department at the Community Center and the Wayne Gray Sports Complex.
- Assists Parks and Recreation Department staff with the set-up, take-down, and inventory of equipment and supplies for the department activities and programs.
- Assists with preparing and distributing promotional materials, communicating with citizens, city employees, businesses, organizations and media, and helping to secure volunteers.
- Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with the daily operation of the main office to include answering phones, taking registrations, reserving facilities, and maintaining office equipment and supplies.
- Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with periodic field maintenance duties to include dragging the fields, raking the fields, chalking the fields, and applying drying agents.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Must be 18 years of age.
Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (ability to obtain TX Driver’s license within 90 days).
Must enjoy working with the public.
Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
Ability to speak to people in a friendly, welcoming and helpful manner.
Other Qualifications
Ability to assist with special events, athletics, and recreation activities. Good interpersonal skills, and ability to perform multiple tasks. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public (of all age groups).
Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.
