Covenant House New Orleans (CHNO) serves youth facing homelessness, survivors of trafficking, and those fleeing dangerous situations. POSITION SUMMARY:
The People & Culture Clerk (Per Diem/Part‑Time) provides administrative, clerical, and records‑management support to the People & Culture Department, ensuring that all processes uphold the dignity, respect, and well‑being of staff. The role supports accurate employee recordkeeping, data entry, meeting facilitation, and day‑to‑day departmental operations. This role requires strong Excel skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to service excellence.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establish and maintain positive, professional, and mentoring relationships with youth and staff, embodying the Covenant House Mission, Principles, and Core Values. Communicate respectfully, avoiding discriminatory, harmful, harassing, or bullying language or behavior.

Promote a culture of dignity and respect, ensuring all interactions uphold the inherent worth of each individual.

Promote a peaceful, healing environment by utilizing the principles and practices of trauma informed care and positive youth development in all aspects of work and youth engagement, including crisis prevention, intervention, and de-escalation.
Administrative & Clerical Support

Serve as an initial point of contact for employee inquiries, providing courteous, timely assistance aligned with CHNO values of respect and dignity.

Provide administrative support including data entry, filing, scanning, and electronic document organization.

Maintain and update employee records in digital and physical formats, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data protection standards.

Support the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and summaries using advanced Excel skills.

Assist with People & Culture correspondences, tracking logs, and document management needs.

Maintaining good customer service

Answering telephone for support while on schedule
Meeting & Event Support

Assist in the facilitation, preparation, and setup of All‑Staff Meetings, team meetings and training sessions with materials preparation, attendance tracking, and logistical support.

Support scheduling of interviews, trainings, and internal meetings as needed.
Teamwork and Collaboration:

Collaborate with external vendors, stakeholders and CHNO teams to support CHNO mission as directed by the Senior Director of Policy, People and Culture

Participate in regular team meetings and training as required by CHNO.

Work collaboratively, supporting one another, and contributing to a team-oriented environment.

Promote a culture of mutual respect and teamwork among staff.
People & Culture Operations Support

Assist with routine People & Culture processes such as onboarding paperwork, personnel file completion, and document review.

Update internal databases with new hire information and maintain accurate personnel data.

Support the execution of staff engagement activities and People & Culture initiatives that promote well‑being and belonging.

Support CHNO recruitment processes, posting job vacancies, inviting candidates for interviews, and obtaining references.

Support CHNO supervisors in the management of attendance, by ensuring that the absence reporting procedures are followed.

Provide clerical support for People & Culture and CHNO compliance‑related documentation

Maintain confidentiality of all employee information and ensure adherence to People & Culture compliance standards.

LOCATION: Covenant House New Orleans Administration Building
WORK SCHEDULE
Part time/ Per Diem: Hours will vary based on departmental needs, including coverage for meetings, clerical tasks, and special projects. On average 10 20 hours per week; flexible scheduling.
