Qualifications:

            Education/Certification:

            Valid registered nurse license (RN) from the Texas Board of Nursing

            Current automatic external defibrillator (AED) and cardio pulmonary resuscitation                (CPR) certificates

 

            Special Knowledge/Skills:

            Knowledge of health appraisal to identify student health defects

            Knowledge of basic first aid

            Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Nursing Services

Provide direct care; access student problems; notify parents of accident or illness; develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs); serve as health advocate for students; ensure medications are administered according to district policy and procedures

 

Instruction and Consultation

Participate in development of campus health education curriculum; collaborate closely with campus principals and other staff and provide leadership to ensure a healthy school environment

 

Administration

Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required; requisition supplies and equipment needed to maintain clinic inventory
