Your work environment at EXP

Join our Mechanical/Electrical Infrastructure team in Sudbury and gain hands‑on experience working alongside engineers and technologists on real infrastructure projects. As a co‑op student, you’ll receive mentorship, exposure to design and field work, and the opportunity to grow your technical and professional skills in a supportive environment.
This role is ideal for students who are curious, detail‑oriented, and looking to apply classroom learning to practical engineering solutions.


What a day at EXP has in store for you

As an Electrical Co op Student, you will support the team with tasks such as:

  • Assisting in the preparation of design packages, including:
    • Basic schematic diagrams
    • Electrical layouts and distribution drawings
    • Lighting layouts (interior and exterior)
    • Equipment room layouts and schedules
  • Supporting the creation of technical documents, including concept reports, meeting minutes, specifications, and contract administration materials
  • Participating in site visits or surveys with senior staff to document existing field conditions
  • Assisting with electrical calculations under the guidance of engineers (e.g., load summaries, voltage drop, equipment selection)
  • Gathering equipment information from suppliers and helping with preliminary equipment selections
  • Attending team or site meetings with senior designers or engineers to observe project discussions and coordination
  • Contributing to general design tasks and providing support to the engineering team as needed

 

What your experience looks like

  • Enrollment in an Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology program
  • Interest in electrical design for buildings, infrastructure, or industrial facilities
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new tools and processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project coordinators
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD is an asset; interest in learning REVIT is a plus
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

     

This job posting is for an existing position vacancy within our organization.

The hourly range for this role is between $21 - $24. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
