- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with school, district, post-secondary personnel and community partners.
- Collects, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes relevant data for the GEAR UP Grant Coordinator and the Utah State University Grant Project Director to ensure services are data-driven and aligned with the federal GEAR UP project.
- Supports the GEAR UP Grant Coordinator in leading district-wide GEAR Up Grant activities that include college awareness events, campus visits, participation in AVID, academic and college planning, and paying for college.
- Supports the GEAR UP Grant Coordinator in providing GEAR UP Grant activities that provide professional development for school site coordinators and school staff.
- Colaborates with each school annually to support the school in creating its work plan and budget aligned with the goals of the GEAR UP program.
- Monitors GEAR UP budgets and expenditures for GEAR UP schools and ensure that all efforts supplement, not duplicate, any efforts supported through other federally funded initiatives including as it relates to the cost-share requirement for the grant.
- Provides monthly updates to district leaders and Utah State University's GEAR UP Grant Project Director and Principle Investigator on the progress the schools are making to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the GEAR UP Grant plan.
- Explains USU policies, Federal policies, and USU STARS! GEAR UP guidelines as they relate to Granite School District policies to school district staff, school site coordinators, and other engaged constituents in a clear and understandable manner.

- Competence in the use of computer programs including Excel, Windows, and other applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working with school districts and secondary education and their expenses, budgetary requirements, and student information systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of GEAR UP guidelines, expenses, budgets, and data requirements preferred.
- Ability to create complex and accurate formulas and spreadsheets in Excel preferred.
- Requires a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally-accredited college or university.

GEAR UP is a Federal Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. GEAR UP is designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. This grant will follow a cohort of students from 7th grade into their first year of college. GEAR UP provides necessary resources needed to help these students graduate and enroll in postsecondary education.

Job Summary:
The GEAR UP Grant Assistant Coordinator will help oversee the implementation of all programmatic and fiscal responsibilities as identified in the grant at GEAR UP schools. The GEAR UP Grant Assistant Coordinator will work with the GEAR UP Grant Coordinator to collaborate across district departments, with GEAR UP School Site Coordinators, district and school leaders, school staff, higher education institutions, and community partners to implement all programmatic and fiscal requirements of the grant.
GEAR UP is a data driven grant requiring the timely collection, preservation, classifying, and reporting of budgetary, expense, and student service data. This position will be required to help the grant coordinator ensure that GEAR UP programming is data-driven and that the GEAR UP program is meeting federal, USU STARS!, and Granite School District policies and expectations. The funding of this grant is approved annually for the subsequent year.
