Part-Time Academic Instructor (CHEM 152 - Fundamentals of General, Organic and Biological Chemistry)

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a part-time Academic Instructor to teach Chemistry 152 (Fundamentals of General, Organic and Biological Chemistry) (3 credits) during the Fall term of the 2026-2027 academic year.  This position is subject to final budgetary approval. 

The course description is as follows:

CHEM 152 Fundamentals of General, Organic and Biological Chemistry: Topics include basic concepts of general chemistry; introduction to organic nomenclature and the reactivities of functional groups; coverage of the fundamentals of biological chemistry. May not be used as a prerequisite for any other chemistry course. Credit will be granted for only one of CHEM 152 or CHEM 151. Open to students in nursing, human kinetics (arts), business, and arts; may not be taken for credit by other science students.

The ideal candidate for the position should possess, at minimum, a Master’s degree in chemistry or a related field.  Preference will be given to candidates who possess a Ph.D. in chemistry and to individuals who have strong teaching and communication skills and/or who have prior experience in university-level teaching.
