Position Summary
Adjunct Instructor of American Sign Language (ASL)
Part-Time | One-Semester Appointment
Guilford College, a residential liberal arts college, invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor of American Sign Language (ASL) for a one-semester appointment. The instructor will teach an undergraduate ASL course emphasizing language acquisition, Deaf culture, and inclusive communication in alignment with the college’s mission of engaged, student-centered learning.
Responsibilities
Teach assigned ASL course(s) consistent with approved course outcomes
Use effective, inclusive pedagogy appropriate for a liberal arts learning environment
Assess student learning and provide timely feedback
Maintain appropriate availability for students and submit grades and course materials in accordance with college and SACSCOC expectations
Required Qualifications
Fluency in American Sign Language
Demonstrated knowledge of Deaf culture
Teaching experience in ASL or relevant professional experience
Commitment to undergraduate education and inclusive learning practices
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in ASL, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, Education, or a related field
Prior teaching experience at the college level
