- Monday - Thursday, hours per day may vary
- Assist the Production Supervisor and/or the Assistant Production Supervisor in a fast-paced team environment.
- Oversee and train staff to maintain a steady work flow of operations to ensure that all meals are prepared, cooked, and served in accordance with standardized recipes and guideline compliance.
- Ensure food safety standards for preparation, storage, and serving of food are maintained.
- Maintain inventory and production records.
- Cook and prepare student meals as needed.
- School food service and culinary experience is strongly preferred.
- Food Protection Manager License is preferred but must be obtained once hired
- SNA Level 2 certification required and Level 3 certification must be attained in a timely manner.
- Customer service skills are essential to this position.
- Ability to work with others as a team is required as teamwork is crucial to the efficiency of the kitchens.
- Computer experience is preferred.

Hutchinson Public Schools has multiple Summer Cook Lead positions for the summer of 2026.
The salary range for this position is $19.38 per hour - $22.64 per hour. Salary is dependent upon education and experience. Benefits include retirement plan with employer contribution. Positions are available at the Middle School and Rec Center.
