The Accounting Analyst is responsible for being a key liaison between Accounting/Finance and members of our Project Teams of a specific Global Practice or Regional Office.
- Develop a working knowledge of the Accounting/Finance process system workflows to be a Center of Excellence for the Project Team to use as support.
- Develop an understanding of intercompany and client billing process workflow, the importance of timely and accurate billing documentation, and the effects of timeliness on cash management.
- Develop knowledge of data and analytic capabilities in Accounting/Finance to support equipping project teams with the info to manage projects.
- Participate in the formal and informal training of Project Team members on Accounting/Finance processes & systems.
- Use wide-ranging Accounting/Finance knowledge to support special projects that focus on innovation and process improvement.
- Assist in analyzing and interpreting contracts to determine proper invoicing requirements & formats for contracts that have complex and/or unique requirements.
- Provide recommendations and implement billing solutions using current technology to maximize the efficiency and accuracy of existing systems & processes.
- Assist in managing unbilled work in progress and project status billing process for designated Global Practice or Regional Office.
- Coordinate with the project team and billing support staff to ensure smooth execution of assigned tasks.
- Develop process documentation for all client-specific invoicing requirements.
- Audit projects with complicated invoicing requirements.
- Support Enterprise Account Management teams on Accounting/Finance needs to assist in delivering best-in-class service to Burns & McDonnell clients.
- Assist Contract Analyst team on client-initiated audits on invoicing
- Assist in supporting Contract Analyst and Financial Reporting teams on 4th quarter and business planning request from Business Leadership.
- Aid and review Project Team's annual AP Accrual estimates to ensure accuracy and follows accounting guidelines.
- Foster relationships with Project Teams and shows a willingness to learn about the Burns & McDonnell project lifecycle
- Support miscellaneous project reviews.
- Engage regularly with assigned mentor as a part of the Accounting Analyst professional development program.
- Display first-rate customer service skills – maintains a positive attitude and is always willing to offer a helping hand to other team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Basic knowledge in Accounting/GAAP.
- Eagerness to constantly learn, be challenged with new tasks, and passionate for continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key excel functions is preferred.
- Self-motivator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple day-to-day and ongoing projects simultaneously.
- Ability to use various software tools, including models, spreadsheets, and databases, to perform analysis and compellingly communicate findings.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex requests.
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
