Job Description

Title: Hydraulics Mechanic

Position Status: Full-Time

Work Schedule: Regular hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 to 4:00. Employees may need to adjust work hours during surge situations.

Brief Job Description:

The Hydraulics Mechanic is responsible for assembling, installing, testing, and troubleshooting hydraulic systems and components in accordance with schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings. This role requires hands-on fabrication, precise system testing, accurate documentation, and collaboration with production teams to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, blueprints, and hand sketches

  • Identify hydraulic components and determine proper routing of hoses, tubing, and assemblies

  • Select appropriate hoses, fittings, tubing, and materials based on system specifications and pressure requirements

  • Assemble hydraulic components using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment

  • Fabricate and repair hydraulic assemblies as needed to meet production and quality standards

  • Perform static and functional testing of hydraulic systems, components, and completed units

  • Troubleshoot hydraulic system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs

  • Maintain accurate job documentation, test results, and production records

  • Provide guidance and direction to less experienced mechanics when necessary

  • Work collaboratively with coworkers, supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals

  • Communicate effectively by sharing progress updates, identifying issues, and contributing to problem-solving efforts

  • Performs other tasks as needed.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of related hydraulic or mechanical experience

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal authorization to live and work in the United States and meet applicable federal program requirements

  • Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and hydraulic testing equipment

  • Basic mathematical skills applicable to measurements and system calculations

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to: bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. Walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull/move items frequently over 20 pounds. Occasionally required to lift/carry/push/pull/move heavy objects up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

The environmental characteristic for this position is an aircraft hangar, warehouse setting, office setting and/or outdoors. Candidates should be able to adapt to environments listed. There may be momentary exposure to high noises, exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents, and Personal Protection Equipment may be required for certain tasks. This position requires being able to work comfortably outdoors and may be exposed to hot/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
