SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Medical Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership to Baylor Genetics Medical Affairs team. The VP, Medical Affairs will work in a close team environment with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Clinical, Professional Education, Operations and Quality Assurance and will manage thought leader development activity with internal and external stake holders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- An advanced health care or science degree required (e.g., MS, Genetic Counseling, PhD, or equivalent)
- Experience:
- 8+ years of medical affairs experience in a CLIA genetic diagnostic laboratory environment.
- 5+ years of proven Medical Affairs leadership, building and implementing a successful Medical Affairs strategy and infrastructure.
- A strong track record in building and leading high performance medical affairs teams and in mentoring talents with an inspirational leadership style.
- Ability to understand and respond to multiple external and internal customers' demands, manage and handle conflict constructively required.
- A strong track record of integrity and compliance
- Must have a strong working knowledge of clinical development and the regulatory requirements relating to medical affairs’ activities with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrated communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement the Global Medical Affairs strategic plan.
- Build on established professional relationships with the Key Opinion Leaders community and develop new relationships as appropriate to exchange scientific knowledge and identify current and future business opportunities.
- Identify and establish relationships with clinical and research leaders, including academicians, clinicians, medical directors and other health care providers. Facilitate education as a scientific/medical/clinical expert through presentations and scientific exchange.
- Build and manage a highly skilled Medical Affairs organization.
- Work multi-functionally with Quality, R&D, Product Development, Clinical Affairs, and Marketing to support and guide the design, risk management, quality management, advertising/promotion and evidence generation needed to achieve corporate objectives.
- Provide Medical expertise to the Commercial organization as needed to assist in the development and execution of compliant commercial activities.
- Develop, refine, and implement all required Medical Affairs policies and procedures and SOPs.
- Participates in scientific activities at congresses, fosters key relationships with customers and thought leaders.
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
