Job Description:
Alation delivers an agentic knowledge layer that enables enterprises to achieve business outcomes and grow their most critical asset, knowledge. Alation pioneered the data catalog market and is trusted by hundreds of Fortune 5000 companies. Alation empowers organizations to realize hard ROI and business outcomes from data and AI.
We’re looking for a technically fluent content operator to join our marketing team and help us modernize the way we reach enterprise buyers — in search engines, in AI-generated answers, and in the data community. This is a hands-on role leading generative engine optimization (GEO), SEO, agentic content workflows, and editorial production. You’ll work directly with Alation’s Head of Content to execute a program designed to shift how AI models describe us, how prospects find us in a world where LLMs are the new top of funnel, and how search engines rank us.
If you are energized by building AI-assisted content systems, obsess over prompt share of voice and citation rates, and can move fast without sacrificing quality, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
Own and execute Alation’s LLM visibility and GEO strategy — track prompt share of voice, citation rates, and sentiment using tools like Scrunch, and translate findings into a concrete, executable content plan.
Build and run AI-assisted content workflows in GitHub, connecting intelligence inputs (customer-call transcripts, competitive signals, analyst reports) to scalable publishing outputs — at 10x the speed of traditional production.
Write and optimize citable, entity-rich content targeting the “prompt universe” where enterprise buyers ask LLMs about products that support data governance, AI readiness, and agentic data management
Lead and manage day-to-day of Alation’s GEO plan building briefs and crafting content, and be accountable for measurable outcomes tied to organic and AI search visibility.
Execute content cleanup, redirect strategies, and competitive comparison pages designed to shift how retrieval-augmented LLMs surface and frame Alation vs. category alternatives.
Manage off-page authority building, tracking third-party mentions on sites like Reddit and Quora, and delivering content that addresses key competitive gaps
Define and report on key metrics — track the Content-to-Pipeline loop across brand mentions, LLM referral trends, page-level engagement, and content reuse across field and digital channels.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of experience in content marketing, digital marketing, or technical content strategy — ideally in B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
Demonstrated experience with generative engine optimization (GEO) and LLM visibility — you understand how AI models retrieve, rank, and recommend content, and you’ve built programs to influence that.
Ability to write across a variety of channels and platforms, from web copy to white papers and LinkedIn thought leadership content
Deep, hands-on SEO expertise: keyword research, on-page optimization, content gap analysis, and a track record of moving organic rankings.
Comfort working in GitHub to design, document, and iterate on AI-assisted content workflows — you don’t need to write production code, but you think in systems and can build repeatable pipelines with LLM tools.
Ability to brief internal and external teams, uphold SLAs, and translate business objectives into actionable content briefs.
Strong editorial judgment — you can review LLM-assisted output for technical accuracy, brand voice, and AEO structure (answer capsules, FAQ schema, definition leads) without rewriting from scratch.
Familiarity with data and AI concepts — you don’t need to be an engineer, but you should understand what a data catalog and knowledge layer does and why “agentic governance” is a meaningful differentiator.
A bias toward fast, measurable progress. You ship, learn, and iterate — you don’t wait for the perfect brief.
Experience with LLM visibility platforms such as Profound, Scrunch, SE Ranking AI Visibility, or Otterly.ai.
Familiarity with SEMrush, Ahrefs, or equivalent SEO tooling for competitive benchmarking.
Nice to Have
Background in or exposure to data governance, data cataloging, or the modern data stack.
Experience with ABM content strategy — particularly adapting content for vertical-specific plays (Finance, Healthcare, Supply Chain).
