Job Summary:

GDI Ainsworth is seeking a Data Intelligence Business Development Manager to drive growth for our Smart Building and Data Intelligence solutions across Canada. This role sits at the intersection of technology, data, and commercial strategy—helping clients unlock operational efficiency, sustainability, and performance through actionable insights and AI-enabled building systems.

The ideal candidate blends technical fluency with consultative sales skills, engaging executives and facility leaders to deliver measurable financial, operational, and ESG outcomes.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow Ainsworth’s Data Intelligence and Smart Building SaaS services across client portfolios.
  • Partner with internal experts to design and present data-driven use cases that solve client challenges.
  • Build business cases demonstrating measurable results in energy reduction, operational savings, and decarbonization.
  • Manage the full sales cycle: lead generation, proposals, RFPs, negotiations, and closing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers including operators, asset managers, sustainability leaders, and C-suite executives.
  • Collaborate with delivery, analytics, and marketing teams to ensure seamless execution and client success.
  • Educate clients and partners on how Smart Building Technologies and FDD platforms enhance building performance and carbon efficiency.
  • Monitor trends in smart buildings, clean tech, and data intelligence to inform strategy.

  Qualifications:

  • 7–15 years in enterprise SaaS, PropTech, EnergyTech, BAS, or related B2B solutions.
  • Proven success with REITs, industrial, public sector, or institutional clients.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles and multi-level relationships.
  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze client needs and connect data solutions to ROI and sustainability outcomes.
  • Organized, analytical, and strategic, with strong forecasting and pipeline discipline.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required; bilingual (French) is an asset.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

  • Strong understanding of building systems and smart infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of analytics, FDD, AI/ML, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data visualization.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
  • Background in energy management, sustainability, and ESG preferred

The salary range is $110,000.00 to $160,000.00 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. The base salary is just one component of Ainsworth’s total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards and benefits such as short-term incentives and health insurance, among others.
