Job Description

This role is responsible for overseeing Compensation & Benefits for our European offices located in the Netherlands, Germany, Romania, Hungary and the UK.

The Compensation & Benefits Specialist needs to have a good understanding of compensation and benefit trends, laws, and regulations and be able to use this knowledge to recommend competitive and cost-effective programs for our employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and evaluate our company’s current compensation and benefits programs.

  • Assist in the design of new cost-effective and attractive compensation and benefits programs for both current and new countries.

  • Review changes to the legal landscape to ensure the company’s policies remain compliant.

  • Recommend employee benefit programs to management by examining, evaluating, and optimizing employee understanding, and interests, costs, regulatory requirements, and competitive advantage.

  • Evaluate proposed employee benefit contracts by studying provisions; estimating impact e.g. new pension plan (WTP).

  • Perform Benefit plan audits. Prepare, collect, and organize data for actual assessments and yearly corrections.

  • Perform compensation analysis and recommend pay adjustments.

  • Perform benchmarking of compensation and benefits by using compensation tools, market surveys and reports by third parties.

  • Collaborate with 3rd party benefit providers, brokers and vendors to ensure smooth delivery of benefits services to employees.

  • Coordinate daily benefits processing, including enrolments and terminations.

  • Submit benefits input to payroll at the start of each calendar month, ensuring accurate benefits deductions.

  • Launch employee benefit announcements.

  • Update Benefit platforms such as ABC Pension.

  • Audit employee compensation & benefits data in Workday.

  • Work together with our Workday team to configure new leave, time off and benefit plans.

  • Review monthly pension invoices, calculate monthly pension deductions as well as yearly pension corrections.   

  • Review vendor invoices and audit for discrepancies before submitting to accounting by end of month.

  • Review the designation of employee expenses and monitor the WCR free space.

  • Coordinate employee wellness events such as Wellness Month for our European offices.

  • Manage Company Medical Plans.

  • Participate in new hire orientation and enrolment of new hires together with HR team members.

  • Support the HR Generalist with responding to employee compensation & benefit questions. When needed, refer employees to specific benefit partners e.g. for retirement planning

  • Create compensation and benefit reports for management.

  • Other duties, responsibilities as assigned by management.

Experience

  • You have at least 2 years of experience in HR or Compensation & Benefits.

  • You speak fluent English and Dutch.  

  • You are highly analytical, accurate, detail-oriented and organized.

  • You have strong Excel skills; comfortable using PivotTables and VLOOKUP.

  • Experience with Workday strongly preferred.

  • Good understanding of employee benefits laws, regulations and best practices.

  • Knowledge of Dutch pension plans and WCR administration (WKR) preferred
