Job Description

Position Title:        Adult Education English Language Instructor - PT


Location:               Marshwood Adult and Community Education South Berwick, Maine
Reports To:           Linda Greer, Director


Position Start Date:  ASAP


Required Certification:   CHRC-Approval (fingerprint/background check) teacher certification or eligibility preferred.


Application Deadline: Open until filled


Position Type: Part-time, generally 3-8 PM, Tues & Wed., 6-10 hours a week,when classes are in session 


Job Description:  Provide both one on one and small group instruction to English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, college preparation and high school diploma students.  Instructor teaches diverse adult learners across beginning and intermediate proficiency levels. Instructors will facilitate learning using HiSET preparation and ESOL curriculum. The position involves primarily evening hours.


 



  •       Instruction: Lead engaging and effective English classes (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) for students at various proficiency levels.

  •       Curriculum: Adapt and deliver multi-level curriculum tailored to student needs and program goals (e.g., general English, academic preparation, business English).

  •       Assessment: Evaluate student progress through regular testing, assignments, and participation, providing constructive feedback.

  •       Engagement: Foster a supportive, interactive, and culturally sensitive learning environment.

  •       Collaboration: Work collaboratively with volunteers and the  academic team on curriculum refinement and professional development.


Qualifications & Skills



  •       Required: Bachelor's degree and commitment to serving a diverse population.

  •       Preferred: Teaching experience; experience with diverse populations.

  •       Skills: Excellent management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  •       Technology: Proficiency in using instructional technology and online learning platforms

  •       Availability: Must be available for scheduled evening hours.
