Job Description
 

A world class lumber manufacturing facility based in Vicksburg, Mississippi is seeking a Diesel Technician.   The duties involve the repair and maintenance of industrial equipment such as:  Log loaders, Wheel Loaders, Forklifts and other mobile equipment used in the manufacturing of lumber.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform needed engine, transmission, and hydraulic system repairs on articulated dump trucks, front end loaders, excavators, tracked dozers, motor graders and miscellaneous small gas and diesel motors.
  •  Complete lubrication maintenance of mobile equipment in accordance with proper lubrication standards.
  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance on diesel trucks, pickup trucks, log trailers, and semi-trailers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical defects.
  • Conduct safety inspections of vehicles and maintain maintenance records.
  • Be self-motivated working with minimal supervision and be capable of making decisions.
  • Work overtime, weekends and holidays when required.
  • Work safely, following company policies and practices including lock tag verify procedures and wearing all required personal protective equipment.

 

 Required Skills: 

  • 1 year of diesel mechanic experience or educational equivalent. 
  • Proven prior experience working the above-mentioned vehicles required 
  • Working knowledge of both gasoline and diesel engines
  • Proficiency in air brake systems and tractor-trailer repairs
  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostics tools and software
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics


Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in a loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
