    Location: All Tallmadge City School Buildings
    Job Type: Part-Time / As-Needed Basis
    Salary: $12.47 per hour

     

    Job Summary:

     

    Substitute Kitchen Workers plays a crucial role in supporting the daily food service operations within the school district. This position is responsible for assisting in meal preparation, serving food, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The substitute kitchen worker provides essential support to the cafeteria team and contributes to a positive dining experience for students and staff.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     
    • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to school menu guidelines.

    • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times.

    • Set up and clean kitchen equipment, serving lines, and dining areas.

    • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools to maintain a hygienic workspace.

    • Help receive, store, and organize food and supplies.

    • Monitor food portions and ensure proper meal distribution.

    • Follow all district and state food service policies and regulations.

    • Assist with cashiering duties if required.

    • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and school personnel to ensure efficient operations.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the cafeteria manager or school administrators.

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

    • Prior experience in food service, hospitality, or school nutrition programs is a plus.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

    • Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices.

    • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

    • Flexibility to work on short notice in various school locations.

    • Background check and fingerprinting required per Ohio state regulations.

     

    Physical and Other Requirements:

     
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

    • Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment and handle hot food items.

    • Willingness to follow all health and safety guidelines.
