Job Description

POSITION: – Building Technician
STATUS: Part-Time
REPORTS TO: Building and Grounds Superintendent
FACILITY: Bayfront Convention Center
HOURLY RATE: $14.00 – $15.00 per hour (based on experience)

Are you handy, detail-oriented, and enjoy fixing things? Join the team at the Bayfront Convention Center as a Building Technician focused on facility maintenance. In this role, you'll support the day-to-day upkeep of our indoor & outdoor spaces performing light repairs, preventative maintenance, and ensuring the facility is always in great working condition.

Whether it’s tightening a hinge, changing filters, or troubleshooting small repairs, your work keeps the building safe, clean, and event-ready year-round.

What You’ll Do
As a Building Technician, you’ll assist with a wide range of indoor & outdoor duties to support building operations and guest safety. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical and repair work
  • Complete routine facility inspections and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely, efficient manner by using a Maintenance Taks Management Software (SherpaDesk)
  • Assist with basic HVAC and electrical support (non-licensed tasks)
  • Help maintain tool inventory and equipment
  • Collaborate with the Building & Grounds Superintendent to identify and resolve issues
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and cleanliness standards
  • Other maintenance-related duties as assigned

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid driver’s license is REQUIRED
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Previous maintenance, handyman, or facilities experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of basic tools, repair methods, and safety procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks safely
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Must pass a background/reference check
